The demise of India inevitable
Dr. A. Z. Hilali
Recently Kapil Komireddi has written an article in Guardian (UK) on June 14, titled “the demise of Pakistan is inevitable”, which is full of contradictions, false statements and based on sarcastic and irresponsible remarks. The writer failed to maintain intellectual balance and ruined the spirit of professionalism when he narrowly discusses Pakistan’s current situation and its indispensable role in the “war on terror”. The author has given negative picture about Pakistan’s sincerity to curb militancy and misinterpreted the sensitivity of Pakistan’s security paradigms that Pakistan’s fight against the Taliban is an illusion and try to create confusion in Western circles that Pakistan is more concerned on its eastern border rather than in the north-west. He has tried to relate something that never exists in any structure of policy making and given sarcastic image about the military elites and civilian leadership in a vague manner without appropriate proofs and sound evidence. Komireddi is basically Indian freelance media analyst and his affiliation is well established with Indian secret agency RAW and leaves no stone unturned in concocting fabricated stories about Pakistan’s affairs and his works normally appear in the US, Indian and British newspapers. In the recent writing he sets aside professional manners of journalism and has broken all records in conducting venomous propaganda against Pakistan’s nuclear programme and simplified that Pakistan has equipped itself for battle with its traditional enemy i.e., India. With a variety of oversimplified and unconventional wisdom Komireddi created stereotype approximation about Taliban patronising and Islamic extremism which is completely baseless and untrue vision and adopted New Delhi’s version to defame Pakistan and diplomatically isolate the country from the western world. The promoted worst idea that the banned Jamat-ud-Dawah is still fighting against Indian rule in Kashmir but have no courage to admit the indigenous Kashmiri freedom struggle against the 700,000 Indian troops who are brutally killing innocent people. The central theme of his recent article is a clear proof that Komireddi is highly ignored and disconnected person about Pakistan’s politics and its security matters. His poisonous approach against Pakistan can be assessed from his articles, titled “Disable Pakistan’s nuclear weapons”, published on February 21, 2009 and “Keep out of Kashmir” published on January 23, 2009 (The Guardian-UK) in which he described that India is on the right side and every thing is wrong with Islamabad and Pakistan is responsible for all ills of India. He mentioned that Mani Shankar Aiyar (member of the Congress party and Union Cabinet Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Youth Affairs) described Pakistan as a country “divided against itself and united against India” but actuality is that the statement rightly applies on India’s diverse society which is full of violence and marred by religious, political and communal confrontation. In fact, Indian society has nothing common except territory and religion as such a big issue and cause of agitation leading to socio-cultural and communal riots. Moreover, Indian elites are using hatred of Pakistan and Muslims (Islam) as a constitutive sine qua non for India’s survival or for internal solidarity. So, whenever Indian elites are facing threats to unity they always use uncomfortable hours to exploit “Pakistan card” and relax tension. It is undeniable fact that India has an artificial unity and practically failed to unite the diverse human spirit. However, it is the will of federal structure of political system and mighty power that brought together millions in solidarity. It is also well acknowledged to common people of India that the real unity of country depends on dictatorial federal system, military power and cultural coercion and religion and social structure have nothing to do for practical benefits of political unity. In this regard, the Indian record of socio-cultural harmony is bleak because India’s history is full of bloodshed, riots and periodic violence against minorities (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians etc) and lower caste Hindus known as dalits. There is no religious tolerance in Indian Hindu dominant society and countless Muslims, Christians and Sikhs have been murdered by fascist Hindus. According to Dr. BR Ambedkar, “inequality is the soul of Hinduism,” and characterized that the oppressive caste system as the tyranny of Hinduism. After spending a lifetime in a crusade against the oppressive Hinduism, Ambedkar finally renounced Hinduism, and converted to Buddhism and exhorted his followers to do the same. International Human Rights organisations clearly mentioned that state authorities including police and para-military forces never hesitate to dishonour the holy places of minorities and also involved in planned killing of innocent people. In the recent past, during Gujarat riots (2002) thousands of Muslims were burnt alive, raped and slaughtered by Hindu fascists in the first genocide of 21st century. In the same way, Christians from different parts of India have been experiencing various forms of atrocities, including looting, destruction of churches and church-run institutions, brutal attacks against priests, nuns, church workers and other members of the Christian community, most of whom are Dalits and Adivasis (tribals). Regrettably, many Indians I spoke to agreed that their country is the hell of problems and there are many Kashmir like areas (Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bodoland, Gondwana, Khalistan, Kamtapur, Manipur, Mizo, Naga, Tripura, Tulu Nad and others), which are struggling for freedom but have no external backing to cut the chain of Hindu imperialism. Moreover, India’s existence continues to be a gift of British legacy and it is also undeniable fact that Hinduism cannot co-exist with other socio-cultural realities. So, its social failings and its nation-building failure on the basis of forging nationalities out of its diversity will be ultimately more dangerous weapon as compared to nuclear bombs. Thus, it is not enough that India is a diversity or pluralistic society which is a greatest fool for itself and truly vindicated that the country is the hub of enormous irresolvable problems. It is also a justification that India cannot justify its existence on the heart of religious and cultural diversity and stability of the country remains challenging part of India’s elites and it will be considered as unfinished business or incomplete task for future economic and military power. In my view the problems of India are much bigger than the expectations when we analyze the disturbing tendencies. In all the mentioned incidents what remains consistent is the fact that the aggressors are always extremist Hindus, who seek justification of their horrendous sins in divine rulings. This perception can be best made sense of with an understanding of Hinduism itself when we are looking that Indian society is being run by hawks like BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, Durga Vahini, Balidani Dasta of Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena and Vishav Hindu Parishad. The chilling reality is fascists activists of these extremist parties have been involved in bomb blasts and sabotage in India but normally New Delhi government blame Muslims, to prove their stance on Muslims being responsible for the terror activities in India. Apart from prejudicial and intellectual biases if Pakistan have no sound basis or justification for creation then the emergence of India is also a great British political error of history. Moreover, before coming to Pakistan, Komireddi should look at its own broken mirror in a manner that what are the moral grounds of India’s existence in the presence of more than three dozen separatist’ movements and unhappy neighbours. So, it is better to ask himself deep moral questions about India’s rhetoric on Pakistan and ultimately you will find that India remains a paragon not Pakistan. Furthermore, there is no doubt that the creation of Pakistan expressly safeguard the Muslims of South Asia and also have an excellent history of protection of minorities as compared to genocide and slaughterisation of innocent people in the land of secularism. More and more, Pakistan is not using its communities for political and diplomatic gains as normally India’s appointing non-Hindus or Muslim Air Marshal (Idris Latif), a Sikh commander of ground forces (JS Aurora), a Parsi chief of army (Sam Manekshaw), and a Jewish strategist and principal negotiator (JFR Jacob) for face saving in the world. Nevertheless, it is a historical fact that India’s elites are ambitious and have hegemonic designs in the region. They also have no trust on their communities (Muslims, Sikhs and Christians) and after six decades India’s domestic arena present the worst scenario of state failure, religious extremism, and terrorisation. Moreover, it is also a fact that India has become a victim of its own history and cultural diversity and most of the problems have been created by legacy of British empire system. So, the country’s survival is extremely superficial and on the basis of artificial grounds. Thus, in the coming years the political and economic future of India is bleak and depressing and probably the name of the country will exist in any corner of so-called Indian territory. It is a historical reality that India was never ever a country rather it is a continental where multiple nationalities or communities are living with dominant differences and permanent division or demarcation.
